Frequently Asked Questions
How is life coaching different from therapy?
Life coaching is future-focused and action-oriented. Instead of diagnosing or treating mental health conditions, life coaching is a collaborative partnership that helps you identify goals, gain clarity, build confidence and create systems that make life feel more manageable.
Do you offer virtual or in-person sessions?
Sessions are available virtually, making it easy for busy parents, regardless of location. However, life coaching in-person sessions can be available if you live in the North Shore Chicagoland area.
Do you accept insurance?
DFN Connected Growth Coaching does not accept insurance. Life coaching is a private-pay service. Many families choose a life coach because it provides support without waitlists, paperwork or a diagnosis. Sessions can be personalized to your needs without the limitations of insurance coverage.
DFN Connected Growth Coaching understands your family may have different financial needs – we can discuss flexible payment options or packages during your consultation.
What should I expect during the first session?
Your first session is a relaxed conversation. We will discuss where you are now, what’s stressful, where you feel stuck and what support would make a difference. You’ll walk away with clarity, actionable next steps and a ton of support.
Do you work with the child or the parent?
You. Because when you are supported and confident – your child flourishes. Coaching is about strengthening the parent so the family thrives.
Is this only for families with official diagnoses?
Not at all! Some families are in the early “something is different” stage. Others are waiting for evaluations or just feel overwhelmed by daily parenting demands. If you need support, you’re in the right place.
Is DFN Connected Growth Coaching able to support parents at all stages—whether my family is just now receiving a diagnosis or have been navigating this for years?
Yes. Every stage of the journey comes with unique emotions and challenges. For parents who are new to a diagnosis, life coaching can help with processing emotions, understanding next steps, building confidence, and finding the right resources and support.
For families who have been navigating this life for quite some time, life coaching often focuses on burnout, advocacy, long-term planning, communication with therapists, balancing schedules, rediscovering your identity and keeping the family connected and supported.
No matter where you are on the path, you don’t have to figure it out alone. Together, we’ll find clarity, balance, and a sense of control again.
What if I’m not sure I need coaching?
That’s what the free consultation is for. There’s no pressure. We’ll talk, ask questions, and see if coaching feels like the right fit.
